What WindowManager are you using? What version of gcc?

I can't really see how it could crash in that function, but I can't tell 
for sure.  Perhaps you can run debugging with

run --GNU-Debug=XSynchronize --GNU-Debug=dflt

and see if it crashes somewhere else.
