I think it would be better and more accurate to test if there is a XIM
server running (this can be done, right?). If the user is running a XIM
server, he probably wants it to be used, so we use the XIM code. If he
isn't running a XIM server, well, there's nothing there to use, anyway.

I think this has already done by someone; actually, when I forget to run
an input server or to set a locale variable to a correct value, GNUstep applications
fallback to non-input-method-support ones, saying "Unable to initialize XIM, using
standard keyboard events."
