Follow-up Comment #1, bug #12535 (project gnustep):

I would say that this happens because the window is not really made key
window in beginModalSessionForWindow and this is because the NSApplication
will only start to get notifications from windows after the dependency has
been set up in finishLaunching. (And also is made active) So the NSApp will
never know that the window thinks itself to be the keyWindow.
