If this is still true, we should stick with the current behaviour. Perhaps somebody with an Apple computer and to much time could try and find out at which point Cocoa resolves symbolic links, if they get resolved a t all.

on osx 10.2 symbolic links don't get resolved, when opening a file (link) from the finder, or with the open command. In my opinion thats not necessarilly a good reason to not resolve them in GNUstep. But, maybe thats just because I would like to use symlinks. In any case, I'd be curious to know if the behaviour has changed in 10.4.
