Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18128 (project gnustep):
I just realized that in my xorg.conf,
the default depth is set to 16.
I changed it to 24 and it works again.
I wonder whether it is possible to raise a warning
for situation like this.
Anyway, the bug can be closed.
