Follow-up Comment #3, bug #19117 (project gnustep):
I _believe_ that the thing which made it work was switching from the 'nv'
driver to 'nvidia' (i.e. the manufacturer-provided driver)...that's the point
at which it started drawing properly anyway. Interesting how I only saw
graphics problems with GS... :-/
