Follow-up Comment #2:
Turns out that the black bar was caused by some code we put into the GState
copy method to work around a bug in cairo. Now that the bug was fixed our code
needed adjustment. I put in some compile time conditional code, this wont work
when GNUstep gets compiled with one version of cairo and used with another.
