Follow-up Comment #7, bug #25033 (project gnustep):

I would guess that:
[format getCharacters: fmt range: ((NSRange){0, len})]
may not be that portable.  I think using NSMakeRange(0,len) would be the
cleaner approach.  Yet that might not yet solve the issue.  

Just to verify, could you attach the results from running:
http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/gnustep/tests/testsuite/trunk/
in particular
http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/gnustep/tests/testsuite/trunk/base/NSProxy/test01.m?rev=27274&view=auto

The important result is the "Proxy NSRange" test.
