Follow-up Comment #1, bug #25216 (project gnustep):
I am not familiar with cairo on Windows, but on the cairo mailing list there
recently was a posting that claims that cairo wont support an alpha chanel on
Windows directly. You will have to use cairo_win32_surface_create_with_dib()
to get full alpha support for your surface.
This could well explain the second issue you are facing.
