as user I agree with you, I consider flash contents very annoying.

IceCat depends from Gnash for a simple reason, many websites check,
using javascript, if the flash plugin is installed on the browser.  In
case it is not present, the user is redirected (or a link is added) to
the Macromedia Flash website.
We don't want this to happen and the most direct way to this problem
seems to have a free Flash alternative installed.

Other ideas, that don't include keep a black list of websites or
in general do censorship, are welcome.
