I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, GNOME 2.30.2, and IceCat 3.6.8 from this ppa>

Nothing happens by clicking the "check now" button under preferences> general>
system defaults.
It does also not works on start up, if the checkbox "Always check..." is
enabled... but i could set it as default browser in console. :D

Go to System->Preferences->Preferred Applications->Browser, choose
Custom and type the command icecat %s.
