For what it's worth in another's observation :: I've experienced something similar with both Icecat and Opera.. By "similar", mine EVENTUALLY closes, it just takes it sometimes ten minutes to do so.. Don't recall how I first heard of the program but I've gone to System Monitor (System Tools > System Monitor in Knoppix/Linux) and watched both Icecat and Opera sit there taking their good old timing closing down.. MIGHT have something to do with how they're using memory.. Three, four minutes after I've shut mine down, System Monitor's reported memory stat for either browser very slowly inches *up* before it then just as slowly goes down until it finally shuts down completely.. During that LONG shutdown process, I have in the past received the referenced/reported error message that another instance of the browser is already open if I try to open another session in the meantime.. For what it's *also* worth, I'm running my system off of the live Knoppix DVD plus a 2gb stick of memory.. To that end, I've always just put the blame for the long shutdown process on my hardware limitations.. Have used System Monitor's "kill" switch in the past but not lately as I hate to chance losing any of the previous browser session's data in the process.. My fix these days has been to just walk away and do chores until it's finished chugging along.. :D Cindy Sue :) - :: - http://www.welovebirds.org/profile/BackyardPishing Talking Rock, Pickens County, Georgia, USA ~ -- http://gnuzilla.gnu.org
