sry i did not know that icecat was standalone - i would have certainly
suggested not to unpack the archive "in-place" but to entirely delete
the previous version and extract a fresh tree normally - also after
"re-winding" windows make sure you apply all critical windows updates

i would hope that should not have any effect but it would not hurt to
try - i would suggest not deleting but simply rename your profile
directory - the program will re-create a new profile when you run it -
if a fresh profile does not help then you can rename your profile
directory making sure it has the original name - if a fresh profile does
help there are probably ways to import you old settings
