I am trying to help, however I do not have the time resources to maintain the grep project. You could try to ease his task as much as possible by setting everything in place, so he can provide the additional effort compatibly with his tight time-constraints. If everything fails, no one else steps up, and you all agree, I offer to co-maintain the project to get a single release out. But then a new maintainer should be sought, since I cannot offer the needed time in the long run, and grep deserves it.
