Sorry I don't have time to fuzz and analyse this fully, but here's how to
reproduce it, found in 2.5.4.
1) touch
foo.foo.fooff.fo.eeeeeee.foof.goo.doo.do.foo.goog.goog.goog.foo.\[FooGood.Foo\].gzip
2) find . -ctime -1 | /bin/grep --colour=auto gzip
Note the period between the closing square bracket and gzip is missing.
