Hmmm, I suspect you are right. My current hypothesis is that the difference between starting gropdf separately by setting up the pipeline manually and letting groff set up the pipeline automatically is that the spawnvp() in pipeline.c uses microsoft's CMD.exe in some way to run the .bat which in turn runs perl to run gropdf, by which time the automatic conversion of LF to CRLF has been turned back on. How I can circumvent this situation is stumping me at the moment. There may be something I can do with COMSPEC to help? Thank you for your suggestion.
