Ignore this please. There was an .ie in some macro at some level where there should have been an .if, resulting in the reported behaviour. I should have more carefully inspected all involved code paths before reporting this. 'Guess i'm a bit overexcited because all components of mdocmx(7) are practically ready for (say) a beta review since almost a week, except for the mdoc(7) macros, which are a bit hairy, so to say.
