Ah. If you dig deep enough, .PF is documented: it's in doc/pic.ms <http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/groff.git/tree/doc/pic.ms>, which also notes that the F stands for "flyback," shedding a little light on one of the mysteries in bug #60478.
