Follow-up Comment #1, bug #61374 (project groff): This bug report appears to be based on a misunderstanding of the purpose of the cited commit.
Before November 2020, nroff did not recognize -z or -Z. Commit 2219bd22 <http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/groff.git/commit/?id=2219bd22> (Nov 2020) changed this, making nroff recognize -z. This commit amended the nroff man page accordingly, adding "z" to the Synopsis section but erroneously calling it "-Z" in the Description section. The commit you cite, 5f15d0ca <http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/groff.git/commit/?id=5f15d0ca> (Jul 2021), fixes this typo in the Description section. nroff did not previously, and still does not, accept -Z. This option causes nroff to emit "usage error: invalid option '-Z'" on stderr and exit with a status of 2 (or 1 in the 1.22.4 release). No nroff options have been removed by either of these commits. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?61374> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
