I see. I guess a standard build doesn't generate the PDF version (or it hides

Yup, that matches my conclusion upon finding that.

To be fair, I had a list of minor Texinfo stuff to fix "someday" that I've
been collecting for a while, and when I went to finally make the changes and
generate a patch, about half the items on my list had been fixed already.
