Follow-up Comment #1, bug #62813 (project groff): I could reconstruct the content of EXPERIMENTS/invalid.roff and reproduce the reported results with:
echo -e '\\\0301\\2' | groff -ww -z
This works with either bash's built-in "echo" or the GNU one, but not all
"echo"s recognize -e.
