Summary: accommodate old hyperlinks to groff Texinfo manual Group: GNU roff Submitter: gbranden Submitted: Fri 06 Oct 2023 10:30:46 PM UTC Category: Core Severity: 3 - Normal Item Group: Documentation Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri 06 Oct 2023 10:30:46 PM UTC By: G. Branden Robinson <gbranden> On the mailing list, Ingo Schwarze noted that some links to nodes of groff's Texinfo have gone stale since version 1.23.0 was put online, since some nodes have been renamed. Texinfo maintainer Gavin Smith pointed out that Texinfo has a feature that could help keep "stale" node names working. Produce a list of all node names in 1.22.4's manual that no longer exist in 1.23.0, and add @anchor points for each. (No need to be robotic about it: some nodes were stubs with no content in 1.22.4 and for years previous. It doesn't seem any worse to feed people an HTTP 404 than a node devoid of content.) https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/groff/2023-10/msg00016.html If we do a 1.23 point release, this change might be worth backporting. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?64758> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
