Follow-up Comment #5:
I've done a bit of font rangling and I think I have a version of
StandardSymSL.sfd which produces output exceedingly close to what postscript
produces at 48pt, just a few pixels different.
This is the fontforge command I use to convert the .sfd to .pfb:-
printf "Open(\$1)\nGenerate('StandardSymSL.pfb','',0x90)\n"|fontforge
--lang=ff --script - StandardSymSL.sfd
I shall commit the new versions.
