Update of bug #68145 (group groff):

Summary: [grotty] performance regression in 1.24.0 when
rendering many megabytes of input to one long page => [grotty] man/mdoc
performance regression observed in 1.24.0 when rendering many megabytes of
input to one long page

Follow-up Comment #30:

Recasting summary to clarify issue and be more keyword-search friendly.

_grotty_'s "thrashy" memory allocation strategy had been present for decades,
but was mostly latent. It took changes in the _man_(7) and _mdoc_(7) macro
packages in _groff_ 1.24.0 to expose the latent issue.

See comment #21. A similarly lengthy document that extended the configured
page length in a similar way could reproduce the poor performance in any
released version of _groff_.
