Default behavior should reflect the common case.  If the default isn't doing
that, it's something that can be improved, regardless of whether whether you
call it a bug or a poorly chosen default.

Few users will want a blank page at the end of their documents; those who do
have well-established tools to generate one.  Requiring users to explicitly
ask for _no_ trailing blank page is effectively requiring them to work around
a suboptimal default.

No one championed the trailing blank page in the 2023 email thread.
