Update of bug #67418 (group groff):

             Assigned to:                    deri => gbranden
             Open/Closed:                  Closed => Open

Follow-up Comment #15:

The bug-closing solution (comment #10) has been challenged in subsequent
discussion (and on the email list: see
http://lists.gnu.org/r/groff/2026-06/msg00000.html) as too heavy-handed.
Discussion in this ticket seems to have stalled--perhaps due to happening
during a release cycle--but the issues raised seem to warrant reopening the
ticket so that some consensus can be reached, even if the resolution ends up
being "leave the fix as it is."

It appears that discussion is awaiting a response from Branden, so reassigning
to him also.

The fix under dispute has already gone into a release (1.24), so it does not
seem urgent to address before 1.25: even if one argues that the fix is a
regression, it is not a regression since the last release.
