You missed an important point: you need not to use the CVS
version. If you don't want to meet many troubles, then hack the beta
release in the ftp server. If you hack it and make a patch for it,
just send the patch to me. I'm glad to accept such a patch, even if
the patch is not a diff for the CVS. You should understand why we
sometimes put snapshots in the ftp server while the user can get the
latest version from the CVS.

No, no, no! You should not use Emacs unless you want to use it. Just
typing "make" will produce the Info file. There is no reason that you
must run makeinfo or Emacs manually. All you need is install
texinfo-3.12h. If you don't want to install it, then use the version
in the ftp server.
Probably you misunderstand something, I think. If you don't agree
with me, please send your complaints to me instead of the
mailing-list. I don't want to see you discourage other kind
volunteers.
