As far as I can see, the postinst only installs the link when called with
argv[1] one of "install" or "upgrade". According to the Packaging Manual
(version 3.1.1.0, section 6.2), this will never happen (postinsts are
called with "configure", "abort-upgrade", "abort-remove" and
"abort-deconfigure".).
