Thanks for the clarification. So would this similar setup work if the floppy
has been made bootable using GRUB?

Yes, I do and it works great.

Let me repeat again what I'm trying to do here. I would like to be able to use
dd to save an image from a bootable floppy disk to my hard drive and use grub
to boot that image as a "bootable" file. Is this doable?
