Caldera OpenLinux eDesktop 2.4 uses grub 0.5.94 (plus patches sent to
this list) for CD boots as well as booting the systems after
installation.
You should get a graphical boot menu when you boot the CD. The first
choice should be highlighted. Just pressing enter shoould start the
install. You should not get to a grub command line prompt by default. If
you have, then perhaps the graphics screen did not load? Try hitting ESC
to get back to the menu.
I have tested this boot on a number of Dell Ispiron systems, but we do
not have a Optiplex GX1 here.
If none of this helps, can you provide more info on what you are seeing?
