  It seems that tabs were replaced with asterisks, but I guess that it
is because of your mailer but not the header file itself.

  But... Ummh... I give up. Try to build GRUB from scratch. Check out
the whole source code from the CVS, run configure, and run make. If
this would still fail, perhaps your build environment is broken. I'm
using linux-2.2.16, gcc-2.95.2, and binutils-2.9.5.0.42, but I haven't
seen such a problem.
