Hi,
a while ago I gave grub its first try on my Debian GNU/Linux machine and it
worked really well except that it didn't do bios drive switching as stable
as I needed it. So I went back to lilo.
Now that I do not need the bios switching anymore I decided to go back to
grub and reinstalled, but it does not boot the machine anymore. All I get is
the text "Loading stage1.5." on the screen and the machine stops. I did copy
all actual grub files to /boot/grup so no old leftover should be there. Also
I checked that no file still lists hd1 which does no longer exist, but to
no avail. Stage 2 is not loaded it seems.
Any idea what could be going wrong here? I'm using version 0.5.96.1.
Actually my package was downloaded from the ProgenyLinux site and lists the
mail address this mail is send to as maintainer. I've used the stock Debian
version before and had the same problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Michael
