Oh, I was hoping the patch did a bit more :-) I realised myself that
grub-install was missing the DAC device info. but its the device
scanning in grub itself that isn't finding the DAC960.

Actually, I wouldn't have thought debugging this in Linux would be so
bad, its debugging from boot thats may not be so easy; I'll have a
look at the source to see what I can see.
