If the code you wrote was for GRUB, you should sign an assignment. Otherwise (i.e. you just copied code from another software), you don't have to do that. Currently we are making GRUB copyrighted (only) by FSF as much as possible, so I hope you would assign the copyright to the FSF, if possible.
