Hi, I recently installed Red Hat Linux 7.2 on my PC and attempted to use GRUB with the default settings from the OS installation to boot both Windows 98 andLinux. Unfortunately neither worked. I had to revert to booting only Win98 atstart up and using a boot disk for Linux. Specifically, I received the followingerror when booting Windows- --------------------------- For DOS
rootnoverify(hd0,0) chainloader +1 Error 25 disk read error ---------------------------- In addition, I'd get the following message when booting Linux- ---------------------------- Booting Red Hat Linux (2.4.7-10) root (hd1,4) Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83 kernel /vmlinuz.2.4.7-10 ro root = /dev hdbc hdc=ide-scsi[Linux-bzImage, setup Ox1400, size = 0xc2714] ---------------------------- The system would then hang (I'd have to manually power down). I was hoping you could inform me on how to boot both Win98 and Linux using GRUB (again, my GRUB is currently overwritten in the MBR). I have the following hard drive configuration 1st Disk - 3 GB Maxtor with Win98 loaded (one partition) 2nd Disk - 40 GB Western Digital with Linux loaded (1st two partitions are /boot and swap partitions, 3rd partition is 10 GB for Win98 fat32 files, andthe final (4th) partition is the root directory for Linux. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
