=================== BUG #551: FULL BUG SNAPSHOT ===================
Submitted by: ud3 Project: grub
Submitted on: 2002-Jun-05 15:07
Category: Network Severity: Major
Priority: None Bug Group: Software Error
Resolution: None Assigned to: None
Status: Closed Release: 0.92
Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release:
Summary: ifconfig command does not flush ARP cache
Original Submission: The ifconfig function does not flush the entries in the ARP
cache when it changes the server's or the gateway's IP address.
The sequence
tftpserver 1.1.1.1
module (nd)/foo
tftpserver 2.2.2.2
module (nd)/bar
will result in the TFTP request for /bar being sent to 2.2.2.2 at 1.1.1.1's MAC
address.
The patch below fixes this problem by invalidating (zeroing) the respective ARP cache
entry when changing the gateway or server IP. An ARP request will be issued on next
use of the IP, installing the correct MAC address.
