It isn't. To change the kernel command line using 'e': highlight the boot entry you want to change. press 'e' arrow down to the kernel line, press 'e' add what you want, press enter press 'b'. With the 'a' patch, you just: highlight the boot entry. Press 'a'. add what you want, press enter. Our support people have trouble walking people through using 'e'. Using 'a' is much easier for them when they have the customer on the phone.
