Hi folks,
I have encountered a strange problem where GRUB 0.9.3 cannot boot RedHat errata kernels 2.4.20-18.8 (RH 8) or 2.4.20-18.9 (RH 9) on an INOVA cPCI PIII embedded PC running a Phoenix BIOS 4.0 Release 6
Nothing happens after I type "boot" at the command line. The system remains alive as I can ctrl-alt-del to reboot the system.
The kernels I use are stock RedHat errata kernels of 2.4.20 vintage. I can see grub launching into big_linux_boot() but I then do not get the 'Uncompressing kernel ' message.
BTW on this system GRUB is able to boot RedHat 2.4.18* vintage kernels and even 2.6.0-test1 home-brew kernel.
Just wondering if there is anything pathological about these new RedHat 2.4.20* kernels or is there a way to detect if the kernel+initrd is loaded correctly. The command line messages are all looking harmless.
Cheers
Richard Chan
