There's no 8.0 version of Linux, the kernel (the latest version is pre-2.6.0). You can find out which version of Linux you're running with "uname -r" command. If you're using a distribution of the GNU/Linux OS that uses GRUB as default bootloader and installed from scratch, the problem is probably a wrong configuration in the distribution. You should contact them to report this problem.
