i've been there ...
well IMHO it would be better to avoid a "telnetd" inside of grub.
It would be fine to use a "grub-netconsole" apps due to the latest
linux kernel netconsole.
Doing so, such "grub-netconsole"  could be used for both grub and linux kernel
netconsole [IIRC linux kernel netconsole use UDP for transport layer] .

This is what allready happen with minicom: we use minicom for 
both grub console and linux kernel console without further apps switching.


|If you find an existing tool that sastifies our needs, that's the best.

Even linux kernel netconsole isn't accomplished with a user space 
apps.

|Otherwise, you would have to define how it works and implement it yourself.


I would prefer this solution.
