I won't talk for the OP, only about my interests. I am a sysadmin at cs.tau.ac.il. I use grub mainly for netbooting, and therefore mostly interested in the recent activity towards more UNDI support. My main interest in ntfs is for instaparties: I wish to prepare a CD that students can take home, unzip to their harddisk, edit their boot.ini, and have Linux up and running. Then bring it to the "Installation Party", which will mostly be about configuring the already-installed Linux. The three main problems, for me, with normal instaparties, are: 1. Waste of time on waiting for defragging and copying 2. repartitioning 3. boot problems. This way I intend to solve these 3 problems. I of course expect students that are really interested, to learn Linux for a few months, then install something (probably a different/newer distro than what I put on this CD) by themselves. But I don't see why I and them should invest effort and time in something that will only be used to prepare their homework. Sorry for the long and boring reply - but I hope that this makes clear my own motivations. I of course, again, do not talk for the OP.
