Most modern email clients support multipart MIME which encodes both the text and HTML messages within the body of one email. Besides that, the Bug-Grub listserv does not have a charter which would prohibit the sending of HTML messages (at least as far as I know). If you're truly offended by html formatted email, maybe you should consider using a mail client which is intelligent enough to ignore the HTML encoding.
