Grub uses /boot/grub/grub.conf, that's clear from the menu it shows. There are symlinks from menu.lst and from /etc/grub.conf to that file. You may be right about the boot sector. I just did "make install", should I also run grub-install? I didn't think about that since there was an earlier grub installed and my guess was there's a difference in the binaries, not with the boot sector. If so, should I install it to MBR or boot sector? How can I determine now which way it is currently installed?
