Follow-up Comment #2, bug #30429 (project grub):
This is actually a BIOS bug. Fortunately GRUB offers an alternative. Could
you try "usb" branch and add following to your /etc/default/grub:
GRUB_PRELOAD_MODULES="ohci uhci"
GRUB_TERMINAL_INPUT="usb_keyboard" ?
