@Pavol even if you're struck by same symptoms it doesn't mean that you're
experiencing the same bug.
To compile GRUB manually you need texinfo.
Also info you supplied is far too scarce. We need at least the result of:
sudo cat /proc/mounts
and
sudo sh -x update-grub
