I am resending my email in plain test as you requested. Thanks, Francisco. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Francisco Assuncao <[email protected]> Date: Thu, Nov 25, 2010 at 12:48 PM Subject: Bug Grub Help To: [email protected]
I used to have the booting menu below on my Desktop: ---------------------------------------------------- GNU GRUB version 1.98 – 1ubuntu5 Line1: Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.32-21-generic Line2: Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.32-21-generic (recovery mode) Line3: Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.32-21-generic (on /dev/sda1) Line4: Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.32-21-generic (recovery mode) (on /dev/sda1) Line5: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (on /dev/sda3) ------------------------------------------------------ The ubuntu of Line3 and Line4 was working good, and the Windows of Line5 either. However, Line1 and Line2 are related to a second installation of Ubuntu- 10.04 that had bugs. So I decided to cancel that installation just deleting the respective partitions (for ext4 and swap space) using the Disk Utility. Right after rebooting the computer, a prompt line came up like this: grub rescue> I guess I'll have to update the GNU Grub file from this prompt command or What to get the PC working back properlly? Sorry, I need help to fix this bug. Could you help me on that, please? Thanks in advance.
