This is not a bug, but a question.
I am a big fan of the lilo interface.
It beeps, and then I hit one of 5 keys to launch one of 5 boots.
Or I wait 3 seconds and it boots the default.
That's all I want, and all I have any practical use for.
But lilo is not supported any longer.
So I have to start using grub.
Can I get grub to emulate this interface?

The lilo message line I can do, I think,
by catting a file with a bell in it.
But I am on software raid 1.
So I suppose I need two entries, for the two disks,
with root and kernel and "cattable" message file on the respective disks.
Is that right?

Then I have terminal --dumb --silent --no-edit

but how is that going to behave?
I can't associate a letter, or label, with each title,
the way you set a label in lilo.
I won't know what to type, or what to do,
and grub won't be talking to me.

No, I don't want to buy another talking computer and have it be
front end through the serial port.
That's just overkill.

Thanks for your thoughts.
