Summary: Boot menu freezes on large fonts but low screen resolutions Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: danielrichter Submitted on: Di 07 Mai 2013 17:41:29 GMT Category: Booting Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Software Error Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: Release: 1.98 Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: After playing with custom fonts on the grub menu I've noticed that it doesn't load the boot menu and also doesn't respond to keyboard actions. The problem occurs when there's not enough space for rendering the boot menu using the given font. Example: Ubuntu 13.04 (12.04 is affected too, I didn't try other distributions) Resolution: 640x480 Font: DejaVu Sans Book 18 Generated by: grub-mkfont --output='/boot/grub/unicode.pf2' --size='18' '/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSans.ttf' The problem is, that a user cannot try the chosen font without rebooting. However if the the grub menu doesn't load then, the user has to use a live cd to fix this. I think this behavior should be changed so that it falls back to default font in this case. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?38929> _______________________________________________ Nachricht gesendet von/durch Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list Bug-grub@gnu.org https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
