Summary: error: sparse file not allowed Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: kingdude Submitted on: Sun 04 Aug 2013 04:53:45 AM GMT Category: Booting Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: KingDude Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: Release: other Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: Operating System: Ubuntu 13.10 (Development Release) x64 CPU Architecture: amd64 File System: Btrfs After selecting Ubuntu in the Grub boot menu, a screen pops up saying "error: sparse file not allowed. Press any key to continue..." Afterwards, the operating system seems to perform normally. This error seems to be exclusive to the Btrfs file system, as it rarely (if at all) happens with Ext4. There is also an Ubuntu Forum thread discussing this bug. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2165005 NOTE: In the release option I selected "Other" because I cannot remember which version of Grub Ubuntu 13.10 uses. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?39688> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list Bug-grub@gnu.org https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
