Follow-up Comment #1, bug #50118 (project grub):

As a test, I created a new zpool on an empty partition, Grub command line
gives same "magic number eror", so it's not an isue of striped/single disk.
Probably latest ZOL version causes this.

Also, grub-mkconfig creates incorrect path entry in grub.cfg (needs /@/):
++ linux   /ROOT/arch/@/boot/vmlinuz-linux root=ZFS=/ROOT/arch/@/ rw  quiet
resume=UUID=xxxxx
-- linux   /ROOT/arch/boot/vmlinuz-linux root=ZFS=/ROOT/arch rw  quiet
resume=UUID=xxxxx
